Last year I was in CUBA..

Music still makes sound in my ears, steps still make me to dance and the taste of Mohito still makes my lip unfulfilled.

The young kid playing guitar to the lyrics of Guantanamera give me silent call and ask me when I am revisitingthis beautiful city of Havana. Me, SG and K eating in the mexican restaurant and one Cuban guy serving us yummy food…ahh…

Our wandering throughout  the lanes , especially in the last leg of our stay, was the most exciting page of my cuba chapter.

We went to have lunch at one of the domestic houses, oh man, it was so tasty  and delicious. We went to get ice-cream, and suddenly it started raining cats and dogs. there was lightening which was followed by terrible sounds. I was regretting my decision to come form the hotel, because ice cream was giving me hard time.

We went beach, name I do not remember, I need to check it  from SG. I miss that cuban sand massaging my soles!

The unforgettable incident in the elevator now is  in laughing stock.  I had brief conversation with one of the most beautiful members of our group, and I expressed my desire that I wish she and me were only left in the elevator, I would have perceive things differently. (haha)Our group was fantastic consisting of members from serious to jolly nature . I wish Cubans have charged us their own currency, instead of asking American dollars. Believe me, the trip would have been far better experience.

From SAS to SA(L)S(A)

My interest fluctuates, and it blends with newer one!  but I try my best to keep myself interested in any course I pursue. From SAS, I jumped on SALSA.. yes.. Sounds ironic huh.. but not really.. I planned forCubatrip..it was part of independent study on the health care inCuba. But travelling to any country, but not aware of the cultural ethos, won’t make good sense. I practiced salsa for a month, took special lessons. As a result I could move at least few initial steps of the dance. It helped me to understand the attitude, behavior and important cultural aspect of Cubans. I came to the conclusion.. DANCE THERAPY could be effective therapy for releasing stress and downloading happiness APP!!!

Latinomania…

Cuban music is very rich. That compels me to visit this country again. Cha-cha-cha”……..LATINOMANIA… SALSOMANIA… Salsa withdrawal effects! ..last night at Casa  da musica was awesome, my dance.. funny steps!!wow…. Wow.. Believe me, band was playing music so pleasant to ears that I wanted the show to go on whole night!! “Me encanta Cuba”! My perception while looking at Latin countries is completely changed. It was the time while in India, I didn’t know of Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Cuba, and despite being a good student of Geography, now I am in love with Latin culture. Cubans love dance, music, wine and cigars. Every corner you go, you will find goup of band playing music. Like me, yes, health professionals should visit this country, besides, I would like to  strongly recommend students majoring music to visit Cuba. While having breakfast on Thursday morning, I had chat with German lady who flew to Cuba, just to learn Salsa..wow.. For 9 days.. How passionate she was! I wish I met her before because the same day evening she was supposed to leave 🙁

Thanks !

Teachers have a greater role in shaping up student’s career. Inspiring professors are always remembered for good cause and the moments shared with them are longlastings. Bad teachers are also remembered, but unfortunately, moments are stored in dreadful flush-drive.
I have never thought in my life that someday I will visit Cuba for independent study. Global health has been my interest for long time ! I would like to dedicate my planned Cuba visit to my sister who is polio affected.

Romans 12:7 “If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well.”
